That bird is getting even more rare -- it is "in decline" throughout its range.
A bald eagle was shot last month just over the NH line in Maine. Since it's still on the "Endangered List", I suspect
a developer.
Although Canada protects them too, they're being killed in big numbers in British Columbia -- for their feathers and talons, used in Native American ceremonies or other black market purposes.

listen -- and
look up!
