Do what I do.....go check out the used XC stuff at Etcetera Shop in Meredith, or Saint Vincent's or Salvaton Army Laconia, or a yard sale and then head over to a 'no fee xc zone' like Mystic Meadows, or some other golf course. or the 2.8 mile Livermore Rd in WV-WMNF.
Downhill skiing is for wussy boys & wussy girls.....the lift does all the work...and it takes like $800 of equipment to go glide down the hill.....plus a $67 lift ticket.....downhill is a capitalist conspiracy....for people too lazy to go cross country.....
