South Down/Long Bay, Laconia
We currently live on Long Island and have a second home in South Down/Long Bay in Laconia. You are correct about the taxes, we have "waterfront" in NH and our taxes are still 25% of the taxes we pay in St James, LI. We love it here also and our long term plan is to move permanently to our second home. Were we are in Laconia I feel it is a very central location in between Meredith and Gilford and really not terrible to get to Wolfboro or Alton. Also plenty of resouces and shopping so you do not feel to removed from civilization. Southdown/Long Bay is a gated community and the complex is beautiful and constantly improving and upgrading the facilities and grounds.
