I just had another look at the
Stallion videos. I was wrong. She has a short whisker pole, but you have to look for it and know what to look for.
The poles (two) on the
Draken seem to be longer....extending outboard further. The butt end fits into a wooden socket at deck level below the gunwale...one socket each, port and starboard.
The Stallion was an experiment. They had
some remains of a 1000 year old longship and assembled the pieces on a steel frame, much like they assemble pieces of an crashed airliner today. There were many pieces missing.
They built the Stallion using the mock up, and came up with a best guess where there was a question.
