Years ago while out for a boat ride near Long Island (I think) my dad, my cousin and I all saw something swimming. First we thought it was a deer, then a horse, but when we got closer it was a female moose (no antlers). A bunch of boats kept a good distance and watched it as it swam to the shore and it scared the people off the beach quick. It got out of the water, ran between the houses and that was it. It's the only moose I have seen in NH so far.
