Laconia between 1880 & 1890 Ice House ............. kinda cool you have one to keep the liquor cold.
In the 50's my grandparents had a camp in Weirs. We use to go to the (Laconia) Ice House right where McD's is on Paugus Bay. They would cut the ice on the Bay and store it in a large building. My grandfather would pull up in his Oldsmobile. A big block of ice would come down a chute from the upper part of the building. I remember a big burly WOMEN would grab the block with ice tongs and throw in to the trunk. My grandfather use to put the block in an old coca-cola freezer on the porch and we would keep all the soda pop in it. Cool memory
