Years ago, (early 80's) my parents had a 28' Trojan cruiser at Silver Sands that got iced in (less than 1" thick) and by the time they got it out to open water at the gas dock, the bow of the wooden hull was chewed up a bit at the water line by the ice (having a stainless steel keel trim [similar to the rub rail] only saved the keel from the ice). Needless to say, they didn't wait that long again!
