For you youngsters out there.

My first time in a civilian hospital was in the early 1970's.
I was in hospital for 3 days.
I got two bills. One from hospital - one bill. One from doctor.
A two item bill.
My employer/employee insurance paid for everything.


The last time I was in a civilian hospital.
One night. Minor procedure.
The bill was eleven (11} pages long at 8 point font.
I had to pay $1.50 per page to obtain a copy of the hospital bill. One of the itemized charges was . . . wait for it . . . the billing company !!!!
Hospital charge per tissue paper and per sheet of toilet paper amongst everything else. Eleven pages of itemized charges. 8 point font.
