Unless your firewood is free, you need to consider the cost of the wood. Seasoned firewood is hard to come by and can cost $350-$400 per cord. Pellet heat is cheaper than propane or wood and a lot less work. IMHO adding an 8" chimney in that location will not be very aesthetically pleasing to look at. Stick with the pellet stove if you can.
