What is wrong with the turntable, and what brand is it?

Many years ago at the start of my career I used to repair Garrard turntables. 99% of the time they just needed a cleaning to replace some grease that would harden over time causing the mechanism to jam.

It was one of those secrets similar to the story of the man with a small hammer that charged $10,000 to fix an expensive piece of machinery with just a "tap...tap...tap" with his hammer! You weren't paying for the 30 seconds of his work, but for his many years of experience to know precisely where to "tap...tap...tap"!

I think the owner of the shop where I worked charged $20 (back in 1976) for the service that took me literally 5 minutes to perform.
