Question Old Logging Trail, A Clue?

There are good sized bolts and nuts still in place. These pieces are at the upper end of a part of the trail that may have been an old logging road, perhaps a century ago.
Does anyone know what these pieces are?
Could the pieces be re-assembled to make a "skid" for oxen to drag logs?
