Hello Mary; Welcome to the Forum. Most all here are quite knowledgeable and you've come to the right area to get many of your questions answered.

I would make the suggestion that you consider renting in each area to gain a better feel for things prior to making a large financial commitment. Doing so may give you an idea of where you'd like to be but more importantly where you definitely do not want to be. Everyone has their likes and dislikes!
