It's my understanding that private schools above the 12th grade have to pay NH property taxes. So, that basically means that private schools, grades k-12, pay NO property tax, while private colleges do pay property tax.
So, where are the NH private colleges that pay property taxes? Are there any left besides Dartmouth which probably makes a negotiated payment in lieu of taxes to the Town of Hanover?
NH has a lot of private high schools, but very few private colleges.
NH is supposedly the only state out of all 50-states that imposes the local property tax on private colleges, that have students above the 12th-grade of education.

Many are in towns that definitely miss their local student and teacher populations who would stop into the general store to buy a lottery ticket and a pack of smokes, among other items and services in the local economy.
