Based on other members responses I think our route will be to leave the camp where it is, claim adverse possession if need be, and get a survey for the property for the future camp. Sure as heck beats having to move it.

I think a new survey requested and paid for by you is a must. Then you can make your future decisions based on that information. If you're going to build a new camp the survey will be needed anyway so it's money well spent.
