So correct technically it is illegal to leave the lift in the water through the winter... better to ask forgiveness then permission.....
Honestly the problem is most people get the lifts, and don't understand the yearly costs or effort to get the darn thing in and out of the water..... The cheap solution is to leave it in, or use air bags to float it out deeper..... where the ice will not get at it....
Now what you have to realize, is that in NH your supposed to remove the lift, other states have different laws, so some places it is legal to do....
