The maple tree (or oak?) has now been turned into beautiful firewood by Poor Richard of Tiny Tractor Projects. I witnessed amazing feats of strength as he lifted huge rounds onto the splitter. Ah, how satisfying the sound of splitting wood! And the sight of the growing wood pile! I highly recommend Poor Richard. Reliable, competent, knowledgeable, and easy to work with.
