I appreciate the IMHO (honestly), but picking up sarcasm is among the skills students need to learn in reading (along with tone, mood, figurative language, etc.).
I joke about the /s, but the fact that it's a "thing" means people aren't good readers anymore. Nuance and subtlety are endangered species.
