I'm not a big fan of Gunstock, but my teenage boys like it so we ski there pretty regularly. The view of the lake is great and it's under 2 hours from my house in MA.
For a multi-day family trip I much prefer North Conway and we ski at the smaller areas like Cranmore and Black to keep the costs down. North Conway has plenty of lodging, dining and shopping options as well.
