In the early 70's we had about 5 of those "drag boats" in a group of friends. Healthy sound, rough ride, sparse seating, and a foot operated gas pedal . No transmission as we know it, no reverse, just either in gear or out of gear. Almost flat bottoms so they needed stainless fins on the bottom center of the boat for stability and turns.

We spent a lot of time in Alton Bay and never ventured too far away. (Even though we could get there pretty quickly)

The good old days!
