I'm confident I would know if anyone I was considering inviting on my boat would have a service dog. That being the case, the issue is moot because I wouldn't be surprised when s/he showed up with fluffy--it would've been part of the invitation process.
Whether or not I would be "comfortable" would depend on the relationship and ability of the person, and rest of the group, to enjoy the outing (safely).
