It is a shame that the off-topic posts in this thread caused it to be moved to the Lake Issues sub-forum.
There is a very valuable lesson to be learned from this incident, and that is to always wear a lanyard. More people need to use theirs, and now that this thread is in the Lake Issues sub-forum, fewer people will become aware of the safety issue.
