Why do you say only a month? I think it will be a minimum of 2 months.
Regarding snow, snow insulates too, so the ice may not thicken as much or as fast once the insulation blanket is dropped.
Supposed to get 17" in MA (Worcester County). Currently shows 9" at our place in NH (Grafton County). And both keep going up. Last night was definitely the coldest. House was 14F inside last night.
