Of all the photos I've seen in this string and on this site, I think this is my favorite. I love all the landscapes but nothing gets to the heart of the lakes region more than close-ups of real people carrying on in their normal lives. I love the intimacy of this scene and wish there were more like it. This photo was taken 118 years ago yet, through it, I almost feel like I'm there.
