I am sure there is some middle ground (although this is a piece of real estate that no one seems to want these days
)but in the "good old days" life expectancy was age 40, women couldn't vote, children rolled cigars in factories at age 11 (at least my grandfather did), "colored people" (not people of color) couldn't vote ( or drink from "whites only" fountains in some parts of our country),penicillin didn't exist, children got polio and cigarettes were promoted as being good for ones health. Memory is a very useful tool in any discussion because you can choose what you wish to remember and forget the rest. Men were really men in those days
