A few things about that number you have to figure out the following:

What is the reporter considering the "Lakes Region"...
and
What defines a "new" registration.... You may find people like me, that didn't register one of the boats last year, are counted in that number because it is "new" from last year......

Bottom line, the press takes lots of freedoms... you have to understand the data set before drawing any conclussions......

Lots of boats where sold last year, no doubt about that.... But the inventory is pretty dry, so I don't think there are a lot of "new" sales going on right now....
