Default Ice Hockey Hour

If anyone is interested, the Waterville Valley Ice Arena is now open for the season which goes from July 1 to next April. Every day features a 90-minute, pick-up hockey period for seven dollars. Also, everyday features a 60 to 90-minute general skating period where you skate around in a big circle for five dollars. Skate rentals cost four dollars. The rest of the daily schedule is usually for hockey camps and figure skating practice. People come from all over for summer ice practice; from Rhode Island to Canada including the Saint John - Sea Dogs, www.saintjohnseadogs.com, a New Brunswick hockey team powered up by Irving Oil.

The rink is same size and ice quality as the Boston Bruins home ice at the Boston Garden. www.watervillevalley.org When the outdoors temperature is 90 degrees and humid, the temp in the rink is about 45 degrees and much dryer.....similar to a giant, walk-in ice box.

Thinking about skating for the first time? For adult and young skaters who are very new to skating, the ice arena offers for no charge these beginner support rigs that are somewhat similar to a nursing home, elderly person's support walker, that supports the neophyte skater as they glide around on the ice.

Not a bad place to go chill out on a day when the outside temperature is hot & steamy!
