Your assessment is quite true! You will also notice that most island dogs tend to lead a much longer life. My neighbor has a yellow lab that just spent his 16th year on the island! We were not sure if he would make it through the summer but as soon as he showed up on the island in the spring, he was like a rejuvenated dog. Made it no problem and very happily through the summer and fall. Not sure I will see him next spring but you never know!... The islands are like the fountain of youth!!! I know I can use all the help I can get!
