Default buying cord wood.

Usually look at the sales ads in Nashua or Manchester. I have found cord wood far cheaper than they are North of Concord.
Back in the days when I had time, I would travel to the apple orchards after the pruning season. I would pick up truckloads of apple tree trimmings and let the age through the summer. Since they are thin they dry out fairly quickly! I would use them to establish my fire from a cold start. Applewood combust quickly and it is hot! Since they burn quickly, I would use normal cord the rest of the day or night.
Sometimes I would burn Applewood to heat up the house when the house is cold. Great fuel for it!
