While $14.50 is not a very low price, it's a price that is doable for many small boaters such as kayaks, sups, and smaller motor boats that are a lot closer to the water than motorboats about 18' length and up. In the motorboats 18' and longer, their size, power and lighting system has more inherent safety than in smaller vessels. Boats 18' and longer are big enough so you do not experience the water with the same close-to-the-water contact as the smaller vessels.

The required white nav light plus the red-green bow lights do not always show up so good. For boating in a small vessel in the dark, or in the dusk, the flashing white led light can make the difference between being seen, or not seen, by other boats ….. especially by the larger 18'-plus boats that are higher up, and have more power. As the sun sets slowly in the west creating darkness to fall across the 21-mile long Lake Winnipesaukee, boaters have to pay extra attention to where they are going because it gets much more difficult to see ahead, as the darkness makes it all blend in together.

For a jet-ski caught out after dusk, having a C-Strobe attached to the upper top-of-shoulder on your pfd would greatly increase the jet-ski's visibility to other boaters as opposed to jet-skiing in the dark with no lights which is what happens.
