That place has changed hands a number of times over the years. I also recall it needed a lot of work and I think it had changed hands at least a couple of times since I looked at it a number of years ago.
If I were you I'd reach out to Nancy Deporter, she's quite familiar with that part of the lake and many of the island properties in the area. Her and her husband are agents too that specialize in island property. I bet she can tell you a lot about the history of that place.
