There used to be a free ramp by the Laconia dock in Paugus Bay. In the 60's (?) the way too small lot, really useless for a dock or ramp, was sold to Irwin Marine. A smart choice. In any event, that left Laconia with no "free" ramp. There is a philosophical difference of opinion as to whether a government should be providing services at a low/no cost in competition with private enterprise. Please don't respond. Hmmm. Wasn't there a ramp years ago across from the (now gone) Paugus Bay Drive-In?

I recall there was a ramp on Paugus, at or near either the present location of the small brick (sewerage?) building (approx. location across bay from drive in) This was in the early 60's and if I recall correctly it disappeared with the project to put sewerage lines around that section of the lake in the early 70's. My details could be off, but I do have photos/8mm movies of using that ramp with my Dad.
