And yes I do have a very nice, old yellow table top phone stamped in ink with an "11-68", November 1968 on the bottom metal base that has a rotary dial and a large four prong plug. Stamped or engraved into the metal base, underneath, it says; "Bell System Property, Not For Sale." It also has a metal dial, underneath, that must adjust the level of the ring-ring-ring.

Definitely, my type of a phone! .... ..... So simple, even a Neanderthal caveman can use it ........ arrghh!
I still have one in the shop.
Before the back-up generator, the one in the kitchen has an answering machine and would not work with the power out.
I would swap them out and see if the line was active with the rotary dial.
