The reason why they make it so hard for people to get off the drugs lies far beneath the surface. When you dig real deep you get to the bottom, and realize it's the drug companies who are responsible for this menace. Actually they are nowhere near the bottom, they are way up top, but for demonstrational purposes I used the above analogy. These companies have NO interest in people getting off these drugs. You are not a patient in their eyes, you are a customer, and you are lining their pockets as long as you continue to ingest these medications. They train and entice Doctors to prescribe these medications by offering them vacations, gifts, bonuses etc. If you think oil tycoons make large salaries, check out the CEO of Astra Zeneca or Glaxo Smith Kline and see what they take to the bank at the expense of millions of American's. It will blow your mind.

Most methadone clinics operate the same way. They have no interest in losing a "customer". These are the ones we typically see depicted in the media. However, there are a few clinics who are recovery based and realize that although weaning a customer off methadone may cause them to lose some money, there will always be new customers banging down the door. Because of my friend I mentioned, and other stories I have heard, I have to believe there are some clinics out there that are for profit, yet good at the same time. They are smart enough to realize they will never be out of business. Sounds like Colonial Management, the company who wants to open a clinic in Laconia seems to operate this way.

R2B, glad I could be helpful.
