I agree with DRH. At the risk of being flamed I will add my two cents then slide back into obscurity.

Each year the fourm fest was "run" by a few who wanted a get together. Each year the decision on when and where got worse as no one could agree (friendly disagreements). Each year someone jumped up and took the ball and ran with it and then others jumped in and helped. We have had some lovely times at each event. I took the ball last year. We did have a nice event and raised some money for the humane society. Some disagreed with my actions ... but once it got going people rallied to the cause.

We all have our preferences for time of year, location, and free vs. going to someplace where we have to pay.

The difficulty I see in going to a restaurant is the variable size of the group. I don't think a restaurant wants a bunch of people lingering and walking around for a couple of hours, some buying, some not.

I personally loved Cate Park because getting there for me from Rattlesnake Island was less painful that other places, we could set up tables and just hang out. Many also loved Lake Shore Park ... and since it rained part of the time being indoors was really cool.

Some suggested the Mount last year. It might be a good place this year to help out one of our most loved attractions. You cannot come and go but the wandering aspect would be nice.. also could not bring food... but they have food for purchase. We could have the raffle. If the right cruise was chosen some could get on at the Weirs and others at Wolfeboro or Alton Bay depending on which day it was held. I could help arrange that event with the Mount... but otherwise want to step back and let others have a turn with the planning.

All this takes is for one or two people to make a date and a place and the people will follow. The previous organizers would certainly give advice as to what needs to be done.

So... there you are... come on... one of you just set a date, time and place... this forum needs a boost of community spirit right about now.
