SKATE: I think this is a true story. Less than honest Fish and Chips places would sometimes use this to suppliment their scallop supply. They are punched out of the skate with a "Leather/Gasket Punch". We used to call them "Skate Plugs". Actually they taste pretty good..something like "Sea Scallpos".
