It does seem as though it should have been made a little wider as mentioned above. I was happy to see that yesterday there was a worker with a leaf blower that went along the length of the bike path blowing all the rocks and sand off it. I wonder if its just a coincidence that its parents weekend at the camps.
I must say I was happy to see it regardless of the timing. It does look alot better, and is undoubtably alot safer for the users of the path, especially young children on bicycles.
