I don’t see conventioneers returning after a first experience, because it’s Winnisquam and they really don’t have water activities except the beach. I’m guessing regular tourist bookings are rare with rooms starting around 700 a night.

Agree/ disagree?

I agree with the "grand hotel without the historical allure," for sure. I sometimes choose to drive back roads from Tilton Market Basket and always think it looks just plopped in to an imperfect area. It's literally bookended by a modular home outlet and sex toy/smoke shop.

In terms of water activities, though, are wedding parties going to be group kayaking? Will Buffy and Theodore Stevenson (the Third) be taking it in on paddleboards? Perhaps an old wooden boat tour, tiki boat bachelor party, etc. might work, but we're back to the meh views, etc.

The reality is that there are far fewer people who can (or want to) afford this type of establishment in 2026 than in the past, so I think they're really going to have to kill it to maintain the prices necessary to prosper.

Alternatively, it becomes more like the Mount Washington Hotel and aims for, what, the upper-middle and above...years after being a "grand" hotel?
