I'm not sure how bulky those are, but the nice thing about the heated handgrips is that I can use lighter, more dexterous gloves that make it easy to shovel, brush off tight corners (stairs, mailbox, car mirrors), etc.

The only mitts I own are for winter hiking, and I only use those when static—last week we hiked Camel's Hump in 10 below weather, and I only had them on for ten or fifteen minutes.

All other times, I'll use liner gloves and/or a lightweight glove shell.
