Nobody will write an umbrella poilicy, even after the dog is gone because the owner is the responsible party and to the imnsurance industry, demonstrates an unacceptable risk. (25 years in the industry for me)
Very lucky it was not a child.
No legal issues, as we are all close friends.
I will say, my buddy that got chomped on is not happy.
