My FB post on Jimmy Buffett this morning:

A lifetime of various memories, many of them in summer. Concerts at Great Woods, seeing and being inspired by the drunkest Parrotheads. A catalogue like a soundtrack to summer days from childhood to partyhood to parenthood and back again.
At Fenway in September 2004, he played a weird medley of “Why Don’t We Get Drunk,” “Purple Rain,” and “Sweet Caroline” but in the revelry and the lights I swear I thought for the first time that maybe we really had a chance to win the whole fricking World Series. “Lone Palm” deeply affected me at age nineteen. All those sailing songs that made me want to get a … motorboat. “A Pirate Looks At Forty.” “One Particular Harbor.” “Come Monday.” “Coast of Carolina.” Neither of us have time to list them all, I know. There were so many.
I always somehow thought he would make to 86. Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic. Rest in peace, Jimmy Buffett, and thank you for entertaining and being able to hit the tropical fun button and all the emotion buttons, often in the same verse-bridge-chorus run. Immortalized by the songs, and already greatly missed.
