methinks you have an unrealistic picture of the cost of maintaining a "floating cabin" - but I sure wish it was accurate!

First of all, many cruiser owners own condominium slips, and do directly pay real estate taxes. For the rest of us, well, let's just say that slips for a large boat aren't cheap. I would imagine that a fair proportion of our slip fees (and Winter storage fees) go toward paying the marina's real estate taxes.

And, keep in mind that, unlike real estate, a boat is a depreciating asset.

But, with that said, I really wouldn't mind kicking in something extra to support more MP presence. After all, we cruiser owners live even closer to thr lake than an island property owner!
