Maybe it's both....
...As long as I've been coming to the lake, (since early 70's), I've always heard people pronounce it "Saunders Bay", and like others, I have seen it spelled both ways, (but definitely more as "Saunders") I work with a Dutch guy whose first name is spelled "Sander", but it is pronounced, "Saunder".
So....maybe our Bay is just like the Dutch guy's name....??
