I have been reading that ATT and Verizon speeds are down overall because of all the new unlimited plans they're pushing. Probably too many kids vacationing at the lake with no wifi access all watching youtube in bed.

I can't speak for ATT, but after shutting off my Wi-Fi, here in Alton Bay, my Verizon Speedtest results are ping 30ms, dl 21.01 Mbps, and ul 3.07 Mbps.
In some cases, just like in sales, it can come down to three things: location, location, location for the original poster.
