We can agree that if you jump you should accept the responsibility for your actions. But that does not absolve the skipper from his responsibility.

Everyone should accept the responsibility for there actions. That includes the passenger, and that includes the skipper.

Responsibility is not like peanut butter. It doesn't get any thinner the more you spread it around.
