Very interesting! On the West Alton side of the lake we have a slightly different method:

Just after dark, slip into the water wearing a bathing suit. Swim out to the swim raft, remove said suit, wave to whomever is on land wondering what you're up to, and then dive in and enjoy the freedom! This way, the people who are still on land have no opportunity to slip down to the dock and steal your suit or towel.

Afterwards, return to the raft, swim to shore, and act like you're a perfect angel.
