At 45' tall, that building would be approximately the equivalent of 5 stories.......... and that's pretty darned tall, especially in a residential area!
(And yes, I know the Bahre mansion is probably at least that height.) I have to wonder if the town of Alton has a ladder truck that could even come close to reaching the roof in case of fire. Kensington, the town in which I live, implemented a height restriction on new buildings a few years back due to the construction of a new home in town which well exceeded the height our ladder truck could reach due to potential liabilities....... perhaps an Alton resident would be reading this and write a warrant article for Town Meeting in March. They'd better hurry, though, the deadline for submitting warrant articles is sometime in early to mid January, I believe!
