Waking up this morning to bare grass with wind and rain. I took a walk around Christmas Island and drove around Paugus Bay. I can't believe how much open water there is. Paugus seemed locked in even before the arctic blast we got. I figured the rain and wind would do little more than melt the snow, but it really opened up the bay and sent some ice drifts into my dock area. The wind will be back out of the north soon so these ice slabs will recede.
