I remember hiking frequently up to the tower back in the late 1950s & 60s with my Mom from our cottage near Wawbeek. Back in those days all of the graffiti was done with pocket knives (spray paint probably didn't exist then). Every time we went, my Mom would always say "Fools' names and fools' faces always appear in public places". Needless to say....our names were never carved up there!
