Very few of these guys will actually lie to you, but they need to sell services to make a living. So if there is a repair in your near future, they want to do it.
Not sure if you're referring to my situation here, but Mike's said the would not pass me until I got this repaired. My other garage said that he wasn't even worried about the same problems right now. I felt like it was a "get it fixed or else" scenario.
