That sounds like a great learning experience. I've decided that I've had enough of spending so much time trying to make flowering plants look nice. I figured I could take that time and put it to a better use so I'm going to devote most of my garden this year to veggies, herbs, peppers, and tomatoes. I'm thinking that planting season might be early this year.
